Mesa Verde Lavender is
more than a farm
—it’s a sanctuary for calm.
Nestled between the La Plata Mountains and Mesa Verde National Park, we grow lavender that inspires slow living, mindful rituals, and connection to the land.
About
Mesa Verde Lavender
How It All Began
Mesa Verde Lavender started with a love for lavender—and a family dare.
Founder Katie Terrell Ramos was visiting her in-laws in 2019 when she fell in love with their garden that had 3 lavender plants she couldn’t stay away from. While chatting with her father-in-law, Clay, about what she might do after leaving teaching, he casually suggested, “You could farm lavender.”
Katie laughed and said, “Farming lavender? No way that’s a thing.”
Clay took that as a challenge. A few hours (and many internet searches) later, he came back grinning: “It’s definitely a thing—and a good thing!”
Katie reminded him that she had never planted anything in her life. Clay just smiled and said,
“You’ll work the hardest you’ve ever worked in your life, but I bet you could figure it out.”
She accepted the challenge right there—and yes, she’ll tell you, it’s the hardest she’s ever worked.
Clay will tell you—he was, in fact, right. 😉
A Family Farm Rooted in the Land
Our lavender farm is a place where past and present come together.
The land itself is rich with sacred history, going at least back to the Basketmaker era—around 500 BCE.
Here in Southwest Colorado, we grow our lavender at high altitude - 6800’, where the dry air and bright sun give our essential oil an especially potent aroma and purity.
When you breathe it in, you’re not just smelling lavender—you’re connecting to centuries of life that have thrived on this land.
Sustainability & Purpose
We’re proud to help build the legacy of lavender farming in Colorado while embracing sustainability practices that keep our farm—and this region—thriving.
Lavender loves this climate. It’s naturally drought-tolerant and resilient, making it an ideal crop as water becomes increasingly scarce in the Southwest.
Every plant we grow and every bottle we craft is part of a bigger vision:
✨ to care for the land,
✨ to honor its history, and
✨ to share its calm with the world.
Come Visit
From our farm you can see Mesa Verde National Park, Sleeping Ute Mountain, and the La Platas—a view that reminds us daily why we do what we do.
We invite you to experience it for yourself: wander the fields, join a workshop, or simply breathe in the scent of calm.
With Gratitude
Thank you for being part of our story.
Every time you bring our lavender into your home, you help us continue this dream
.
